Gina's letter about her medical vacation
Gina (not her real name) wrote us one day
and sent some photos that we wanted to share with you.
Dear Julie,
I had such a positive experience with my overseas
medical care that I wanted to write about my journey.
I was able to combine my liposuction
surgery into a month’s vacation traveling
around Thailand which has become a favorite destination of mine
for many reasons.
Being a single woman I find it very easy to
travel on my own in Thailand. So after an initial meeting with the
doctor I headed for the Andaman Sea for scuba diving and to explore
the western coastal region which is very beautiful.
It is particularly easy to get around Bangkok.
Thailand is an extremely affordable country and I find that I am
doing many activities that I cannot afford on a regular basis in
the U.S.
I also spent a lot of time getting spa
treatments like facial microdermabrasion, manicure/pedicure
and enjoyed a pearl scrub the night before my surgery. This combined
with the comfortable hotel-like setting of the hospital made me
so at ease that on the morning of the
surgery I had no anxiety whatsoever.
It was strange considering I had never had
surgery before, but I felt like I was being very
well taken care of. (I also had my teeth
laser whitened all of which was happily arranged by my medical
concierge.)
From what I had read of other people's experiences
from liposuction, I just assumed
that I would spend at least a few
days in pain and was not sure of how mobile I would be. To my
surprise, after a night’s stay in the hospital I was released the
next day and spent the following day shopping
in Bangkok and I was doing something active each day.
By the time my recovery stay was over I felt
basically normal and took off exploring outside
of Bangkok to the island of Koh Chang. After a week on the island
I made one more stop to see Julie and get checked out by the doctor
and was headed home.
Best to everyone in
Bangkok,
Gina
